Roland RP701 Digital Piano: Expressive Sound, Smart Learning, Elegant Design
Roland RP701 Digital Piano: Designed for Learning, Playing, and Home Life
The Roland RP701 is a home digital piano designed to make piano playing approachable for beginners, developing musicians, and families. Combining an 88-key weighted keyboard, Roland’s SuperNATURAL Piano technology, built-in learning features, and Bluetooth connectivity, it brings traditional piano characteristics together with convenient digital functions.
Expressive SuperNATURAL Piano Sound
At the heart of the RP701 is Roland’s SuperNATURAL Piano technology. The sound engine is designed to respond naturally to changes in playing dynamics, allowing softer and stronger keystrokes to produce expressive variations in tone.
With up to 256-note polyphony and a wide collection of onboard tones, the RP701 provides plenty of flexibility for practice, performance, and musical exploration.
PHA-4 Standard 88-Key Keyboard
The RP701 features Roland’s PHA-4 Standard keyboard with 88 weighted keys, escapement, and Ivory Feel key surfaces.
The keyboard is designed to recreate important characteristics of an acoustic piano action, helping players develop control over dynamics, articulation, and expression. Adjustable key-touch settings also allow the response to be adapted to individual playing preferences.
Progressive Damper Action Pedals
A three-pedal system provides damper, soft, and sostenuto functions. The Progressive Damper Action pedal supports continuous detection, allowing players to work with techniques such as half-pedaling.
This gives developing pianists greater control over sustain and expression while practicing more advanced piano techniques.
Built-In Practice and Learning Features
The RP701 includes a range of functions intended to support regular practice.
Players can use the built-in metronome, recording functions, transpose controls, split keyboard mode, Dual mode, and TwinPiano. The piano also contains hundreds of internal songs covering listening, entertainment, exercises, and traditional piano-study material.
Recording functions allow musicians to listen back to their performances, making it easier to identify areas that may need additional practice.
Bluetooth and App Connectivity
Bluetooth audio allows music from a compatible smartphone or tablet to be played through the RP701's speaker system or connected headphones. This makes it possible to practice alongside songs, backing tracks, or educational audio.
Bluetooth MIDI connectivity also allows the piano to communicate wirelessly with compatible music applications.
The RP701 works with the Roland Piano App, which provides additional practice exercises, recording tools, learning functions, and controls that complement the instrument's onboard features.
Headphones 3D Ambience
For quieter practice sessions, the RP701 includes Roland's Headphones 3D Ambience technology.
When headphones are connected, the effect is designed to create a more spacious listening experience rather than making the sound feel as though it is coming directly from the headphones. This can make extended private practice sessions feel more natural and immersive.
Two headphone connections are provided, giving players additional flexibility for lessons or shared listening.
Integrated Speaker System
The RP701 uses two 12 cm speakers powered by a 12 W + 12 W amplification system.
The integrated design allows the piano to deliver its sound directly into the room without requiring an external speaker system for everyday home playing and practice.
Simple and Intuitive Controls
The control panel has been designed with straightforward icons and an OLED display, helping players quickly access important functions.
The sliding keyboard cover can also conceal the controls when they are not required, creating a cleaner traditional piano appearance and allowing the player to concentrate on the keyboard.
Elegant Home Piano Design
The RP701 uses a furniture-style cabinet inspired by the appearance of traditional upright pianos. Curved details, slim front legs, an integrated music rest, and a sliding keyboard cover give the instrument a refined home-piano character.
Its cabinet measures approximately 1,366 mm wide, 463 mm deep, and 1,027 mm high with the music rest, while the complete instrument weighs approximately 46 kg.
A Digital Piano Built Around Everyday Practice
The Roland RP701 combines expressive piano sound, an 88-key weighted keyboard, three-pedal control, recording tools, built-in songs, Bluetooth connectivity, and app integration in a traditional cabinet-style design.
Its combination of straightforward operation and practice-focused functions makes it particularly well suited to musicians who want an instrument that can support regular learning while remaining an attractive part of the home.
